Dobbs Sentences #158: Part II C 2

As always, you can find the Dobbs v. Jackson decision here.

Paragraph 2 of 4

Sentence 2 of 2

This sentence contains two claims:

“Without the availability of abortion, they maintain, people will be inhibited from exercising their freedom to choose the types of relationships they desire, and women will be unable to compete with men in the workplace and in other endeavors.”

The claims:

  • “Without the availability of abortion, they maintain, people will be inhibited from exercising their freedom to choose the types of relationships they desire.”
  • “[Without the availability of abortion, they maintain,] women will be unable to compete with men in the workplace and in other endeavors.”

I know I’ve read in Roe and Casey where claims like these are made, but I’m not going to hunt for those passages right now. If Dobbs had provided citations I’d do a quick check, but under these circumstances that will have to wait.

For now these are undetermined:

  • “Without the availability of abortion, they maintain, people will be inhibited from exercising their freedom to choose the types of relationships they desire.”
  • “[Without the availability of abortion, they maintain,] women will be unable to compete with men in the workplace and in other endeavors.”
