The first sentence in the third paragraph of this portion of Dobbs is a thesis statement, and its support should come in the following sentences. In a way, though, it’s an expansion on the last sentence of the previous paragraph. Instead of enumerating the parts of the Bill of Rights Roe cited as supports for a right to privacy, this sentence prepares us for three different kinds of support for the right. The sentence reads:

“The Court’s discussion left open at least three ways in which some combination of these provisions could protect the abortion right.”

I’ll hold off on declaring this sentence for any list until the end of the paragraph.
